Local Tea Shop is an ongoing community engagement project where herbal teas are foraged from around Glasgow's Southside, naturally hand-processed, and served back to the community. The tea is brewed and served in the same location which the leaves were picked from.

This iteration features tea made of Rosebay Willowherb, which is often considered an invasive weed. Also known as Fireweed for its quick regrowth after fire or disturbance, the plant is often cut down, or at best, ignored, but it has many uses. It is high in vitamins A and C, and has astringent properties. It's leaves can be rolled and fermented to be drunk as an herbal tea, and can also be eaten as a vegetable. It's leaves and flowers can be used as a dye source, and it's stems can be processed into a fiber, or woven into baskets.

Functional natural materials are all around us, and so many people simply pass by without even noticing them. Local Tea Shop seeks to bring awareness to the beautiful species which surround our everyday lives.
