During the Spring and Summer of 2022, there was an avian flu outbreak in Scotland. Beaches were covered in bodies of dead seabirds, washed up amongst the sand. While walking on beaches, I usually stop to look for shells, sea glass and other hidden treasures, yet now I walk amongst mangled piles of feathers. This series examines the tensions between the horrors of loss in a post-pandemic age, the starkness of reality, and the beauty that can still be found in nature.
